The longest hair I get to brush;
It started out curly as a spring.
My favorite poet of all I know;
She writes me encouraging notes and things.

She’s thoughtful and kind and listens well,
She shows up on birthdays when no one else knew.
I love her laughs and giggles and jokes,
And when she smiles she lights up the room!

When I’m with her I count myself blessed;
She knows so much more than I’ve taught her;
She calls me Daddy, sweet as can be
And I get to call her my daughter.

I take the plunge to ask this request
with courage and confidence, zeal and aplomb:
(Oh, lucky me, I still have a chance!)
WILL YOU GO WITH ME TO PROM?
